There are several things that I enjoy about being a writer: It’s a creative process. It can help people — whether by giving them access to useful tools and information or by inspiring their fantasy and their own creativity. It gives you freedom and flexibility. You are the boss, and you decide what to focus on. There is almost limitless potential for growth and discovery as you explore your topics and deep dive into them, so it is always interesting and new, even if you have a dedicated specialization.

If you want to be a writer, I think there are several ingredients that belong in the mix: If you write non-fiction, you need to be curious and get excited about the learning process that you engage in when you write. Just as important is to enjoy passing that on to others. You should have a message and a vision – something that you want to communicate – and enjoy that process of unfolding. Books can be a growth opportunity for both the author and the reader. I think is a little bit like having a child – not just because it’s creation, but because, like a child, the book takes on its own life and influences others beyond you.

Currently, I am working on a series of books on artificial intelligence that will be more specialized than my most recent guide. They will cover deep-dive looks at AI in sectors where its impact is particularly promising, such as education. AI can mean unprecedented access and advancement for learners of all kinds, offering services like a personal tutor 24/7. I am also planning a crash-course introduction to the essentials of Python that will aim to make programming AI applications accessible to a wide group of people, even if you are not a developer.

My work in IT gives me insights into the newest trends and applications. This and my research inspire me to think about the impact that these technologies can have in our daily lives – how AI can manage a vast spectrum of tasks — everything from optimizing financial market trading to discovering novel medicines. I also make sure to balance my writing with downtime to recharge spiritually and physically. That keeps my inspiration and energy high. I start every day with a long walk in the woods at dawn, when I immerse myself in the opposite of tech and enjoy the beauty of nature. Delicious, aromatic coffee helps too!

While I’m in IT, I can say without bias that this is true for everyone. Increasingly, people are realizing how important this technology is.
