What are you currently working on?
Kurt Ellis I am working on three projects right now.
The first project is the first of (at least) a three part, dark psychological thriller that is set in Johannesburg.
The second project I am working on is a diary of a twelve year old boy growing up in Sydenham.
And the last, is a personal mission of mine, in which I am writing material to assist South African scholars with their education material.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Kurt Ellis Never stop writing. It took me sixteen years to get my first novel published. And it was sixteen years of sending the manuscript to numerous publishers, getting rejected and then re-writing. It is not an easy task, but one certainly worth sticking to. Determination.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Kurt Ellis Turning your fantasies into reality. Being able to live in any world or during any time you like, and then inviting people into this world.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Kurt Ellis I don't believe I ever encountered writer's block in the traditional sense of the term. I always have about five or six story completely 'told' in my head at any one time. What I do struggle with sometimes is the energy needed to put these stories on paper.
What I do to combat this though, is I write about three different stories at the same time. This way, if I am struggling to write one, I will move on to another.
