Bill Scott Write with your heart into it and don't worry about spelling, grammar or punctuation - that can be sorted out later.

Find an editor who will critically analyse the story and not just the presentation. You might think you have written a good story but a good editor will tell you if it was enjoyable and what is missing. It is also highly satisfying when he eventually gives the story his seal of approval.
Bill Scott I take a break and try again later. If the inspiration isn't there I can't force it. I also know when something I have written isn't 'right',l and it can sometimes take days or weeks before before I am happy with it. Fortunately, I can usually get on with the rest of the text in the meantime.
Bill Scott I was born and brought up on the estate of a benevolent millionaire, who made his fortune, only to give it all away in his final ambition to die a poor man. He gave to the poor but also many other people, including his doctor, whose car was always filled up at the estate pump. However, he didn't want any publicity for his generosity, so only those close to him knew the story.

I was originally asked to write an article about him for a local museum and from that other people and members of his family contacted me with their memories, stories and pictures.Former employees also contacted me - some well into their nineties - to tell me their stories.

There were so many remarkable tales that I felt that it merited a book. And so I started to write the story, with the aim of bringing out the warmth and spirit of the man and his business as well as the facts.
