My normal answer would be the Star Wars Universe but this year having read George R R Martin's book "Windhaven" I'd have to say there. The idea of flying between islands on specially created wings strapped to your back just sounds amazing.

For me it is the research. I love research and delving into history, finding old facts and obscure information.

There is nothing worse than writer's block. I have two ways to tackle it which are a little contradictory but it really depends on my mindset.
Either I keep going and just keep throwing words at the page in the hope it might set something in motion OR I turn the laptop off, go for a walk or watch some TV and let my mind rest before I come back to it.

I'm currently researching two projects but not sure which one I will do first.
The big one will be an in depth look at the Battle of Jutland (1916) which will take in Oral accounts as well as documentary accounts.
The second one, and I fear this maybe a little niche, will be on Royal Navy Pre-dreadnought battleships during the First World War including roles during the Dardenelles and for defence against German invasion.
