My sister. She suggested that we have a go at writing a romance novel together and she mentioned the idea of a polygamist and I was off. It really didn't take me much to get going with ideas. We literally did one brainstorming session, then I went away and wrote the first book during a NaNoWriMo challenge. The book actually wrote itself because for 16 days I made writing my priority and I allowed the characters to write themselves. I just followed along as the scribe!

I honestly don't need much inspiration to write, but I do find that music is a great help to me in creating the perfect writing environment as it screens out distractions and also something visual, like a picture or an idea. Probably the big driver for me is feedback. Every time someone gives me a good review, I find that is extra fuel for my writing engine.

I am working on Book 3 of the Twisted Sisters Series, a romance/action/mystery novel. I'm also working on my Teaching Memoires, Fat Girls Can Dance, which is in final edit stage, a bit exciting for me! Plus, I'm working on a book for a client, Unknotting Your Knickers, which is a guide to managing your mental health while journeying with a Gynaecological or Sexual Health challenge.

Just do it. Sign up for NaNoWriMo and challenge yourself to write your first novel. I did that and it was the doorway to a whole new world for me.

The limitless possibilities... who needs to go anywhere when you can literally go everywhere in your head and through your pen or keyboard???

Is there such a thing? Just kidding. I either, go and have a sleep - usually a sign that I am tired; or I find a friend to talk about my ideas - could be a sign that I am stuck on a crucial plot twist or character question; or I go somewhere fresh with the express purpose of writing - could be that I am distracted by dishes and family. If it is neither of these three, then I find a good walk on the beach with my toes in the cold water works wonders for my imagination...

Some mysteries to be solved...
Why my mother married my dad. Rumour has it that she did so because he threatened to top himself if she didn't, but was that true? And was she pregnant before or after the wedding, as the timeframe looks to be a bit close to the wire to really know for sure? Did he force himself on her or was it mutual? And what really were the dynamics of their personal life together, given the level of abuse?
