I had a (undiagnosed) learning disability coupled with ADD as a child, and daydreaming was at the center of everything I did. I was, am, always in my own head. At best I was a mediocre student. If I excelled in one class I flunked another. Then in my sophomore year of high school, the class was given a short story writing assignment. I scored the highest in the entire 10th grade class! I was stunned. The teacher commented on my imagination, but I had always assumed everybody dreamed like that. The high score was a shock, but the greater surprise for me was to learn that not everyone had vivid imaginations like I did. I haven't stopped dreaming since.

I hate this question. I usually gush like a blubbering moron when someone asks it, barely putting together coherent sentences. I think it's because in the beginning of writing a new novel it's like falling in love. Everything about it is scrumptious.
That said, here's the summary sentence for WALK WITH ME.
Tired of being a pawn and everyone's meal ticket, a teenage girl determines to break free of her derelict family and their unscrupulous ways.

Other than write and keep writing, the best thing any aspiring writer can do is connect with like minds. I'll never forget my first writers group meeting. It was like I'd found my home planet. They talked like me, thought like me. Even if there's no local group get online. The support is necessary.

Creating something new. And when it doesn't work, scrapping it, writing something else, and making it work. It's the only career a person can continually start over. Until it's published, that is!

Daydreaming, and tons of it. A long drive, which keeps me confined so I can think without distractions, can often get me over a hump.

I've always loved the Phantom of the Opera, in all its incarnations. So writing a YA version seemed like the logical thing to do.
