S.L. Thorne Hanging by a thread, a shred really, Allan looked down to the canyon below, felt the fabric of his sleeve beginning to give out where it had caught the branch. He sneezed.
S.L. Thorne For Whom The Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn
S.L. Thorne What really happened to my brother the night he was hit by a car.
Or the story of what happened to members of my father's family in rural Georgia in the early years of the 1900's (I don't remember the date)
S.L. Thorne Honestly... First thought that always comes to mind is the Potterverse. Mostly so I can either learn basic housecleaning charms or convince a houseelf I'd make an excellent roommate just so I can spend more time writing.

There are other book worlds I wouldn't mind living in... The Hollows by Kim Harrison, but there are too many to remember or choose from.
S.L. Thorne I do something else. Art for a while, or sewing. Cause if I force it, all I get is garbage. I've taken breaks for as long as a year and half once, then I'll get an idea and write for 3 years straight. I can't force it. Some people can. Best thing is to think about the characters and what they would do. Go through your everyday life and when you see a situation, ask yourself what the characters would do in that situation, how they would react. Eventually, something will light you on fire.
S.L. Thorne Reactions. Making my readers cry and sing with joy. Watching people devour the story.
S.L. Thorne think about stories. Make up characters, their backgrounds, think about their personalities. Fall in love with them. Make sure they have flaws, but are likeable in spite of them. Make your villains not pure evil and malicious, give them reasons to do what they do, and most importantly, know why they do what they do. Remember that even Hilter loved someone. Then, when you know the people, write the story. Just tell it in your own voice, or the characters' voices.
S.L. Thorne The Cover to Book 2 of the Gryphon's Rest series. And Dance of Devils, which is book 3.

I've also been toying with my nanowrimo entry a little, a story about a familiar.
S.L. Thorne I often ask myself what if questions. Mercy's Ransom started as a 'What if a pirate caught a mermaid' question. I brooded on it and then started dreaming. I would think out it when I woke, as I fell asleep, etc. It was one of those I resisted writing, but my muse was having none of that. I finally started to write and felt so much better about it. I posted it to elfwood, but had no intentions of real publishing, but for one of my fans who insisted I publish it. Thanks Ron Kilpatrick!
