Mike, we are close in age! That is not a question. My question is for you as an author, what differentiates strange fiction from speculative fiction? (I know it's an author choice, but categorizations fascinate me.)
Mike Russell Hello Maria. I call my books 'strange' so as not to constrain them within a narrow category and to let potential readers know that the books celebrate the unusual. I like to write stories that cannot be easily defined. Any categorisation is superficial and is best left to others. Anyhow, to misquote Shakespeare: A book by any other name would smell as strange.

How did you acquire your two cats? I also have two. One appeared about 17 years ago from out of nowhere and adopted us. The second appeared about 2 years ago. I learned that feeding a stray cat is like signing a contract.
Mike Russell They acquired me! I suspect that they orchestrated the circumstances that led to me living with them. I am their slave but I love them.

Dear Mike, I love the book, it makes my mind run wild! One of my favorites in the book was "The meeting", it keeps my mind racing. I was wondering If there was some underlying meaning that I am missing, or may some additional subtle hint you could share?
Mike Russell Hello John, I am really glad you are enjoying 'Nothing Is Strange'! Thank you for your question. For me stories are mysteries that can hold more than it is possible to articulate and yet we can feel it all. That is their magic. If you love the story you probably understand it better than you think. It's just difficult to put into words, right? It may also mean that you relate to the story somehow. Here is something to ponder: 'The Meeting' is a story in which the characters find that if they investigate their lives they can make discoveries that have the capacity to change everything...
