Barbara Neville I turned on the TV. It was horrifying.
Barbara Neville I definitely prefer books written in first person and they must have humor. Snarky and dry being my favorites. Hence, Craig Johnson's new one is number one. Followed by Anne Hillerman's latest and Michael Crichton's (an author I miss terribly, and he was tall!) Dragon's Teeth, it's right up my dinosaur alley. Also, the new releases by Ace Atkins (Robert B Parker's Little White Lies, reading now) Empire of the Summer Moon (reading now). The new releases by Janet Evanovich, Michael Connelly and Stuart Woods. Then, I'll be searching, humor is hard to find in this world, I search it out.
Barbara Neville In my books? Ma'cho and Cha'a.
Although, whichever couple I am writing about; be it Annie with Buzz, Hammer, Wolf or Spud, is, in the moment , my favorite.
Barbara Neville I like your website. Looks like we may be residents of parallel universes! Thanks, Barb
Barbara Neville I go back and read my virtual index cards, I read what I have written in chapters and often find a few paragraphs or even a whole chapter to add into the manuscript. I also will go do something else. I don't stare at a blank page, ever. My mind works best while occupies doing something else. Intuition is the key to writing, not thinking up sentences. Don't let the conscious mind get in the way of your inner story teller..
Barbara Neville Creativity. Also self employment. Okay, I admit it that's two best things.
Barbara Neville Read, watch, listen, and most important write! Nothing works better than writing, I jot down words, sentences, plot ideas and whole scenes as they come to me. Then I put it all together and flesh it out into a book. A software like Scrivener is extremely helpful. I use it as a digital filing cabinet as my ideas don't come in the final sequence of the book. I can lay out the virtual index cards and sort them infinitely easier than their paper predecessors.
Barbara Neville Book 2 of the Spirit Animal series, a western action adventure mystery series with a twist. The twist was revealed in book 1 titled On the Rocks.
Barbara Neville I wake up in the morning with ideas bursting to get out of my head.
Barbara Neville My next book is a continuation of On the Rocks. My ideas come from life experience as a cowhand, horsewoman, rancher and outdoor person. I have done most of the things I write about, hence the detail about things like horsepacking, Beyond that imagination, I alway write in the style of the books I like to read. Humor, weel rounded characterization, action, sex, etc.
