Scott A. Koon I am currently working on my second and third books. The second book has the working title of "Automatic Habits" and is a series of parables about making success-based behaviors into habits. The third book, is just in outline form with no official title. The topic is how to become great at giving and receiving feedback. I will be posting excerpts of both on my website: http://the-career-forge.com. I'd love to have you read through them and give me feedback!
Scott A. Koon The idea for “Swimming In Quicksand” came from personal experience.

Several years ago, I was struggling at work. I didn't like what I was doing, I believed I'd been passed-over for several promotions, and my performance was deteriorating. My struggles at work began to impact relationships with family and friends. I was stuck in a downward spiral.

The strategies I used to improve my work-life situation are exactly the same used by Mark in the book. They worked for me at least as well as they worked for him. However, I have to admit that most of the situations Mark finds himself in are completely fictional. I created them to highlight the strategies or help tell the story without offending any of my friends or former colleagues.

I hope you enjoy the book!
Scott A. Koon I try and make writing a habit. Every week-day morning I get up, spend some time exercising, then sit down to write. My goal is to write at least two pages every day. I don't worry about the topic. Sometimes I work on one of my projects. Sometimes it's the equivalent of a journal entry.

I find if I miss more than two days of writing, getting started again is very difficult. I also find writing helps me focus. Not writing in the morning can mean the difference between being organized and relaxed or frantic and reactive. Finally, I enjoy the process of putting thoughts and ideas into words. I love it when I read something I've written and the words "just click". It is a unique little thrill. So, I work very hard not to miss a day.
