Andrea Lambert The Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. A scifi/fantasy favorite from when I was 12. I would like very much to fly around on a sentient fire breathing dragon.
Andrea Lambert On Grief and Grieving, How To Murder Your Life (for the 4th time lol), Valley of the Dolls, In the City of Shy Hunters, Now Is the Hour, the Grief Recovery Handbook, I Heart Lord Buddha, City of Night, Fierce People, The Vampire Lestat
Andrea Lambert I wait it out. I put my attentions to other things for a while. I try to have several projects going at a time that I can rotate between if one is just dead on the water. Sometimes all I can do when i'm blocked is wait and hope, but free writing, Twitter and low-pressure journal writing can help me get the inspiration going again.
Andrea Lambert Other people being interested in what I have to say. Getting respect. Having a flexible schedule. Late nights. Black coffee. Energy drinks. Watching the sun rise after a night spent writing. Notebooks filled with spiraling text and secrets.
Andrea Lambert Write regularly and often, no matter how you feel about the quality at the time. Submit often, despite the inevitable rejection letters you will get, because if you keep trying you will eventually receive yes's too. A big secret of the writing life is patience, persistence, compassion. Feel empowered rather then diminished by your peers successes. Keep writing no matter what, because the work is it's own reward and by writing your text you are experiencing an act of joy. The recognition that you crave may not come until after you are dead but it will come eventually and possibly within your lifetime.
Andrea Lambert I am working on an autobiographical novel of punk Portland called Scaffolding and a book of poetry called Bleed Almond. I have a couple of novella-length incomplete manuscripts that I want to expand into autobiographical novels about my relationship with my deceased wife in the late 2010s and my further adventures in San Francisco in 2004.
Andrea Lambert I drink coffee, smoke weed. I like to schedule time to write and sit down and commit to writing for a few hours or at least an hour regularly when I am working on something. I sir down at my desk and look at my computer or notebook and tap into the emotions and feelings that are flowing through me.
Andrea Lambert I lived in Portland while I was in college in the mid to late 1990s, and the book I am currently working on is based on these experiences. I got the idea to write a book on this because I already had my Reed College thesis as the germ of the text and expanded outward from that.
