Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?
Bert Robbens I guess it would be Tom Jones and Sophia Western in Fielding's Tom Jones. They are not deeply characterized, but their courtship provides for the best comic epic in English literature.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Bert Robbens The idea for Looking for Art came from the town I live in, its history and social dynamics. One of the things I learned from writing it was the importance of a strong sense of place.

What are you currently working on?
Bert Robbens I'm working on a sequel to Looking for Art and finding it difficult. Rather than providing a base to work from, the characters, locations, and situations brought forward seem like constraints, and the effort of running them through a new plot is not as exciting as their original creation.
