Faith Wood I don't pressure myself too much. I get up early, I grab a coffee and I contemplate what I am writing about.
I always have my ipad with me or a notebook and so I spend time throughout the day making notes and funny article headlines that will spur me on at another time.
Also, having a framework for each chapter helps to keep me on track of what I was hoping to share with readers
Faith Wood As a speaker, writing helps me get my thoughts together and create more compelling stories for the stage. It releases some creative juices that helps me be a little less analytical and a lot more playful and suspenseful.
Faith Wood Consider who your audience will be for your story and then sit down and write a bit of a framework for it (or an outline). Carve time out of your weeks to journal or write about the subject matter. Never be afraid to try something new.

Best thing I did with my first fiction novel was find a few close friends who were open to reading chapter by chapter and providing objective feedback to me as the story unfolded.

I have not needed this with my 2nd novel, but it never hurts!
Faith Wood I am deadline driven, so a lot of my inspiration comes by contemplating a subject for a number of days and allowing thoughts to pop into my head.

I also read voraciously to gain momentum and inspiration.
Faith Wood When I sat down to write the novel - the Accidental Audience - it was my first foray into fiction. Inside the pages is the content that I speak about from the stage as a Professional Speaker and telling the story (quasi autobiography) helped me share concepts and ideas in a fun and lively manner.

I really wanted to write a book that I wanted to read when I am tired at the end of a long travel day - flight delays and/or sitting on the deck in the afternoon sun.
Faith Wood I am currently about 40% through the next book in the Colbie Colleen series titled - Chasing Rhinos.

I am also writing for Troy Media - monthly articles focused on navigating conflict. more successfully
