Start as young as possible.
Many writers say to write for ten years before you expect any income.

Writer's block often means I haven't found the solution yet. Or, I have too many chores to focus on finding it. Sometimes, a walk, weeding the flowers, or washing dishes will bring an answer. Or, work on a more awake story, and come back later.
