Dan Hanly The Shire, Pre-Lord of the Rings story arc. I'd have a simple life, cosy and gentle. I'd read, do a bit of gardening and drink tea.
Dan Hanly Is this a nod to my Valleys heritage? I'm not sure whether I should be offended, or impressed!

I write in my study at home. I did, for a short time, try utilising a laptop and writing wherever I could, but I found that my concentration was lacking unless I was in my study, in the quiet. So at home mainly.
Dan Hanly I struggle to settle on a favourite, because it depends on what type of thing I'm reading. I'm quite fond of Patrick Rothfuss at the moment, and also I'm reading Wool by Hugh Howey which I'm really enjoying.
Dan Hanly I have to clean my desk. If there's clutter on my writing desk, I really struggle to focus! I actually notice a clear difference in my writing quality, with and without clutter!
Dan Hanly For me, writer's block usually means that the chapter I'm trying to write isn't quite inspiring enough. I usually take another look at the plot of the chapter and try to re-work it so that it's interesting for me as a writer.
Dan Hanly Being able to create something new, crafting a story until it reaches completion. It really feels like you're adding something valuable to the world.
Dan Hanly Be prepared for harsh critiques. You will get some; everybody does. You need to learn to distance yourself from your work so that these critiques don't feel personal, just constructive.
Dan Hanly I'm working on a full-length novel about a group of teenagers who are banished from the town that they grew up in. I aim to pack it full of intrigue, horror and thrills.
Dan Hanly I've always been a writer. I remember using Creative Writer 2 to put together stories when I was just a child. I feel it's always been there, but only since adulthood, I've had the 'chops' to pursue it fully.
Dan Hanly My most recent book, Escape, came to me whilst watching From Dusk till Dawn. It's a movie famed for it's genre bend, and so I was inspired to do the same. Granted, my two genres weren't heist and horror, they were Drama and Fantasy instead, but I still wanted to experiment with weaving two genres in and out of each other.
