E.A. Lake Sorry, I just noticed your question Carol.

I can always use another proofreader. May I ask what charge you have for that service?

Thanks.
E.A. Lake Write, write, and write some more.

When you get to about 500,000 written words, things begin to make more sense. When you get to a million words, writing becomes as natural as taking a breath.

Just don't stop. Even on the days and weeks where nothing makes sense. Write something every day. That way, you will form a great habit. A writing habit.
E.A. Lake The best thing, for me, is taking a blank piece of paper and filling it with a new world. Don't think of world as in planet. Think of it as a piece or tale that has never been told before. Until I create it, it doesn't exist. Truly, it feels like bringing life from nothing!
E.A. Lake For my second novel in the WWIV series (Kids at War) the main story idea started with me asking myself a question. I wondered who would be the worst of in a world without any power, without any communications or running cars. Who would be most vulnerable to low food and fresh water supplies.

I remember grinning when the idea finally hit me. But just as quickly I realized I had to create an entire story around the idea. These members of our society can't speak for themselves.
E.A. Lake I've been lucky thus far. I haven't been crippled, yet, by writer's block.

That's not to say that once in a while I write myself into a corner. When that happens i sit back and take my time, playing the scene through in my mind. Usually, within hours, I have a resolution for my issue (whatever it may be).

If something stumps me too long, I move on and write in a different or new chapter. This will help from my mind from the previous problem and somewhere in the middle of this new writing, a solution will pop into my mind.

The biggest thing is to just keep on writing.
E.A. Lake I am in the middle of Book 3 of my WWIV Series. The working title is WWIV - The Secrets of Two Societies, but I'm not sure that is going to stick.

It is set twelve years after the event that takes away our electricity, our communications, our transportation, our humanity. Set in the Salt Lake City Basin (in the future called The Salt Lake Community) and the mountains east of current day Salt Lake City, the novel deals with how power changes hands when things are so different than today. It also shows survival of common people at one of the "Camps" in the mountains.

This novel will have a darker tone than my previous novels; a tone that is meant to help examine with how far I see our society crumbling - even if it's only twelve years after whatever happened, happened.
E.A. Lake I sit down and reread the last few sentences I wrote previously. From there, I just pick up and let it flow. By the time I'm writing a manuscript, I've played i through in my mind hundreds of times. New scenes and better dialog come to me throughout the day as well.
