Hard to answer. Worked as a bouncer in a cowboy bar outside a marine base for several years. Did security (and it has been more than 20 years since anybody has shot at me, now) when I was still in LA. Lived in SoCal, with all its weirdness for five years. Been a computer nerd specializing in turning data into information and stories for fifteen years now. And you meet all sorts of (other) weirdoes as a writer.

Planning more Javier stories. Need time.
The Alexandria Station universe (see my blogs on www.blazeward.com) has the first Jessica Keller novel coming in early May ('Auberon') and I'm wrapping up the sequel to that one ('Queen Of The Pirates') for release in the late summer.
Have several more stories in Javier's time period planned, just haven't had a chance to write them yet. If you like Suvi as much as some of my fans, the short story 'The Librarian' picks up her story, several thousand years in the future. (And: spoiler alert: the third Jessica Keller novel is 'Last Of The Immortals' and Suvi makes an appearance there too.)
