So my usual go-to for this kind of question is the Pokemon world, since if has a high probability of not being terrible. but Pokemon isn't a book world.
I suppose I wouldn't mind living in my Human Galactic Empire. It would probably be okay, even if I ended up being nobody special.

I'm a huge fan of Tamora Pierce, and she released the first book in the series about my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE character of hers. I'm really excited to steal a day or three and curl up with it. Slaughter and Tempest looks exactly my speed for a drizzly autumn day and a good cup of tea.

The most recent book that I've finished started as a character I literally dreamed up, crossed with three characters I've been considering for a while. To my luck, they kind of merged, and turned into one person.
The most recent book I'm starting is from Goblin Armor, and covers the immediate history of the Shadow King and his Kingsguard. Because they're noisy and insistent.

Everything gives me inspiration. It could be an interesting building, or a picture of a dress I like, or a turn of phrase I overhear on the bus.
When I'm seriously looking for inspiration, I have a board on Pinterest that i add to constantly. I also read through my stories and see if any of my characters is up to anything new. Frequently they are.

so many things. Please kill me. I want to die.
At the moment, I'm finishing up one novel, The Idol of Astre, which posted on my Patreon. I'm pulling together an anthology of my Human Galactic Empire short stories, and I'm starting work on a new novel in the same world as Goblin Armor.

Finish a project.
No really. I know everyone says 'don't stop writing' and that's useful, but honestly, finish a project. If you want to go professional, you had better have a clean, polished, finished, project to show. No reputable agent in the business will touch a new author who doesn't have a single finished project under their belt.

The best piece of writing advice I ever got was "Writer's Block isn't that you can't write anything, it's that you can't write what you're trying to write." and that is absolutely true.
So, my favorite fix is to put my entire writing library on shuffle, and write for the duration of one song. Whatever comes to mind. Train of thoughts, story bit, whatever. Anything. As soon as the song ends, hit enter twice and start something new. it doesn't matter if you're in the middle of a sentance, or a word. Just start something different.
Usually by abut ten songs in, I'm burning to write something longer. By twenty songs in, I can hardly stand to stop working on whatever my last song spawned. So it works. It shakes me up, and it kicks my inspiration out of whatever rut it's fallen into most recently.
