Incy Black Now how did I miss this question? Apologies Patricia!!! Next up is Will's story...poor man deserves a book of his own after all the bruises and wounds he picks up protecting his friends. He's a man who always has everyone else's back...it's time someone took his. And there's no better woman to do so, than Angel Treherne. Let the fireworks commence!
Incy Black I don't have a single trigger. Sometimes a single sentence will pop into my head and I'll craft a story around it. At other times, something visual, a photograph will stimulate my muse. Or I ask myself a question like, what would be the best thing to happen to me, then I throw a hand grenade at the answer and take it from there.
Incy Black I do a lot of head-to-desk banging, and give myself repetitive strain syndrome hitting the delete key. Eventually the wall breaks and the words begin to flow again.
Incy Black You get to break the rules (well, you do in my genre--romantic suspense--anyway). And then you get to explore the consequences of doing so. It's a bit like being the perpetrator, victim, witness, judge and jury all at the same time.
Incy Black Write for yourself. If you have written a novel that would thrill you as a 'reader', then chances are others will love it too--but it's the getting it to those 'others' that's the challenge.

So second piece of advice: Never give up. My own life motto is: Fall down 7 times, stand up 8. The road to getting published is paved with rejections...keep moving forward.
Incy Black I'm working on Bk 3 of the 'Hard to...' series in which Will Berwick, a secondary character in Hard to Hold and Hard to Forget (Oct 2014) features. Basically, its about an ambitious commitment-phobe who falls for a woman with no more love to spare. And, once again, the Administration have crossed the line, putting the life of both in jeopardy.
Incy Black With Hard to Hold, I started by asking myself the question, 'what would be my idea of a nightmare scenario?' Someone laying claim to one of my children, someone I didn't know and who I couldn't fight, ranked right up there.
