Hi Jae! I am working with Pratt High students and staff via the Pratt, KS public library and was wondering if you would like to do an author Skype call? I am trying to connect with authors either in person or via Skype to do author talks with our high school students.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Jae Byrd Wells I can't listen to music during writer's block, but if I find the sights, sounds and smells in a public place usually help smash the walls in my mind.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Jae Byrd Wells I love to inspire, bless and motivate others along their paths in life. A reader explained to me that my science fiction prepared her in a difficult situation.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Jae Byrd Wells Don't just edit your own book. Check the background of your editors to make sure they fit your genre. You do not want an editor correcting grammar for your surfer dude.

Jae Byrd Wells I am editing and fixing Book 2 of The Tales From School series.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Jae Byrd Wells Many myths describe mermaids with one tail and scales. I wanted to portray them with separate limbs and catfish flesh which is more likely related to human flesh than scales.
