Kelly Goode Thank you so much for sticking with Kari. I know it's been a few years now since Play Dead came out and book 6 should have been ready end of 2020, but I fell behind with what I'd hope to publish during the pandemic as it was so hard to work from home, home-school the kids and then try to write. I also branched into a new genre (sci-fi romance) but I'm working on the draft for Kari book #6 and I really do hope to have it done by end of 2021 and if not, then early into 2022. Thanks for your question.
Kelly Goode Thank you for getting in touch. I have the fourth ISCU book outlined with a cover and title ready to go. I'm hoping for a spring 2021 release as long as the second draft and editing stages go well. 2020 has not been the best year for so many reasons and my productivity definitely suffered during lockdown, so I'm hoping next year is better all round :)
Kelly Goode Probably a bit of a predictable answer, but I would love to go to Hogwarts.... while there I would brush up on my knowledge of potions and spells so I could battle evil and save the world while still finding time to eat dinner in the Great Hall and sneak into the forbidden section of the library. I'm expecting my invitation by owl post any minute now... :)
Kelly Goode I find music always inspires me to write. I imagine the scene I want to write before putting pen to paper. I think about the characters as actors & actresses then put a soundtrack to what they're, almost like I am watching a film. Then I add those tracks to a playlist, plug in my earphones and start writing.

I have many favourite songs that inspired some of the more memorable scenes in Kari Stillwell's life. If you'd like to tell me your favourite scene, I'll let you know how I was inspired to write it and if there was a particular song that I felt fitted the characters.

When I was writing book #1, Wild Side, for the scene when Grayton and Kari first walk into the nightclub I was listening to Katy B's "Katy on a Mission" and remembering my own experiences and feelings about clubbing in my teenage years.
Kelly Goode The best thing about being a writer is being able to transport my readers into another world. A world where anything is possible. I love hearing from people who have read my books. It's a great feeling when they tell me that they couldn't put the book down and just had to read on. Knowing I provided them with a small piece of escapism, makes all the hard work and re-writes worth while.
Kelly Goode Hello Steph,
As an indie author, the Kari Stillwell series is currently only available via amazon as an e-book but my aim is to one day have "Wild Side" and future novels printed as paperbacks.
You can download my amazon e-books via a kindle reading app on most PC's & Tablets if you don't have a kindle. One day I'd like to see my books in print, but for now I am just going to keep on writing stories that hopefully people enjoy and will tell their friends about.
Thanks for your question,
Kelly
Kelly Goode Sometimes I get stuck trying to successfully move my characters from one scene to another. I know where I want them to be and what I want them to say but I don't want the action to come across as contrived so what I usually do is leave a blank space and move on to writing the next chapter. I then go back and fill in the missing scene, usually during one of the invaluable writing days that I spend with my writing group. Having five or six other authors around a table somehow just eases the writing block and I find that I write a better scene than I would have done had I continued to spend time agonising over it in the first place.
Kelly Goode I think I'll stick with Urban Fantasy for a while. I love writing without constraints and fantasy allows my imagination to run wild. I also enjoy setting my stories around places I know & love (like London and my home county of Essex). I have big plans for Kari and her friends, and am thinking of setting up a spin-off series in 2015 featuring some of the popular characters in the novels.
Kelly Goode I am currently working on book #3 in the Kari Stillwell series. I have a working title that I am playing around with and have completed the first 10% to date. Kari is such a fun character to write about. She somehow always manages to end up where trouble strikes. I enjoy putting her into situations and discovering chapter by chapter how she handles the confrontations.
