Delwyn Jenkins Hi Myst. I've had the rights of the Watchtower Chronicles returned to me so they are off-line for the moment. I'm hoping to find a new home for them this year and when that happens I'll be publishing them under my pen name DJ MIchaels. If you're interested, you can subscribe to my newsletter and I'll keep you up to date (https://madmimi.com/signups/129838/join). Thanks so much for your question. Regards Delwyn
Delwyn Jenkins I think writer's block is a bit of a myth. I might had a plot problem, or a plot point that needs a clever resolutions, but trying to find an answer isn't the same as being blocked. I figure if you're manuscript isn't interesting enough to you to spark ideas, then it's not going to be interesting enough to the reader to read.
Delwyn Jenkins Just about everything. Having a dream job, loving going to work every day (because it so doesn't feel like work). One of my favourite things is when someone asks me what I do for a living. You can't imagine how cool it is to stay 'I'm a published author'.
Delwyn Jenkins Get hooked into a professional association. As a romance writer, Romance Writers of Australia have been instrumental in my road to publication - not just helping me improve technically, but making friends and contacts in the industry. Every genre/style has a similar group. Also, if you want to write fiction, you need to be prepared to learn. Go to classes, read books, get into critiquing groups. I've been to workshops where career professional, multi published authors sit down and take page after page of notes. We're always learning.
Delwyn Jenkins I've just submitted my second book in the Watchtower series, so edits will be on the way soon. I also write erotic romance as DJ Michaels, so I'll be working on those as well.
Delwyn Jenkins It's not hard to get inspired when you love it and it's been your secret dream since you were a child. But having said that, it's a solo/marathon kind of career, so there is a lot of self-discipline involved. You really have to be two things at once - a creative, imaginative artist AND a practical, technically proficient professional.
Delwyn Jenkins I'm interested in the old religions and they get a lot of bad press (and poor treatment in fiction) so the idea of a good decent person who just happens to be a witch was percolating for quite some time. Then, of course, my imagination went crazy and a whole world took shape.
