First, I have a bunch of racket balls with numbers corresponding to words. Which ever one my dog brings me, becomes a story. I originally intended Icarus to be a Renaissance period, coming of age romance novel. Unfortunately my dog brought, space ship, androgynous alien, flying space whale thing, and long-term instability of fractional economics. I'm trying to write the sequel with: amusement park, monkey, and socialized health care paradigm.
Second, I read, a lot. I average a novel a week and usually have 3 going at one time. Besides that I have notebooks full of the notes and snippets of stories for the universe I have been creating for years.

Bypass the aspiring writer phase and go straight to the full time author. Well, unless you need things like food, housing, or income. I did a survey in my class while teaching the other day and 10 out of 10 people would recommend eating to a friend. I didn't have a chance to ask about money or housing because the results simply blew my mind.

Writing wise. Currently working on Gift of Prometheus which will probably be split into 2 books. Finishing up the short story Broken Sky (a story about Zamera).
Originally the story became multiple books. At some point I would like to do the entire Icarus Risen as a single story. There's parts I took out because it didn't flow well, hence the short stories.
