Alexi Lawless I'm so sorry for the late reply-- I've been so heads down focused on releasing Fearless: Part 3 (http://amzn.to/2bxiuW7), I didn't log into Goodreads! I LOVE Outlander!! What a huge compliment to be compared to the fabulous Ms. Gabaldon! Thank you so much for the support.

Now, for your question: a couple months before I release each book, I reach out to the Lawless Crew for ARC reviewers. I pick them based on a couple key factors: 1) previous reviews and 2) passion for the series! If you're interested in being an ARC reviewer, just subscribe to my list at www.alexilawless.com and watch for my little love notes!

Already hard at work on the new series!

XOXO,

Alexi.
Alexi Lawless It's finally out, darling! Thank you for being so patient! I hope you love it! Click here to download: http://amzn.to/2bxiuW7

Alexi Lawless Hey, Lynn! Goddess Rising is available exclusively on Amazon for pre-order on September 7th (she does happy dance)!

I'm in the middle of writing Part 3 now, targeting a fall release and will continue to release scenes, the cover reveal and playlists as I work on them to members of the Lawless Crew so stay tuned!

Alexi Lawless Steve-- glad you're enjoying the series! I can't say my writing is like another author's, but I do believe in osmosis, and I'm a voracious reader of thrillers and suspense like Lee Child ("The Affair" is awesome), Marcus Sakey's Brilliance series, and I recently enjoyed Vince Flynn's American Assassin.

The whole reason I started the Complicated Creatures series is because I love thrillers and action/adventure but the women in these books are often side pieces or window dressing, and I wanted to read a woman who really knocked my socks off. I couldn't find her, so I wrote her! So if you find any great reads I should check out where the women are amazing-- please share!
Alexi Lawless I was asked by several readers-- How did Sam Wyatt come about? Where does a girl like this come from?-- and I started to wonder-- why not write a prequel to the Complicated Creatures series? When you meet Samantha in the first book, she's already a hyper-successful businesswoman and international bad-ass.

So... I thought then, why not the prequel? The beginning before Book 1, when Sam is just a college student, trying to figure it all out? What was her first love like? What was her relationship with her little brother and father like? Who was her closest friend? How did she get set on the path to becoming an military interrogator?

The working title is "Goddess Rising". I have a rough timeline of a Feb/Mar release. If you're interested in staying tuned, please sign up at my website for excerpts, the cover reveal and the release date: AlexiLawless.com
Alexi Lawless I'm just finishing Complicated Creatures Part Two, which is available for pre-order now (amzn.to/1w5HFAv).

Novella 2.5, which will come out early next year.

The Prequel to Complicated Creatures which will be a full-length YA story about Sam when she goes to college, available around Christmas/New Year’s.

And finally…

Complicated Creatures Part Three, the conclusion to the Complicated Creatures series, available in 2015.
Alexi Lawless Honestly, self-publishing is so easy these days, there’s no reason not to sit down and see what you can produce. There are a few things you need to seriously consider before you begin:

*You Will Need an Editor* Don’t even THINK about producing something without a professional’s help. If you’re an avid reader, you know there’s nothing more irritating, unprofessional and off-putting as a badly edited manuscript. A good editor can cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000 in my experience and you’ll need to bake in time for the back and forth of the developmental edit, copy edit and final proof reading process. You can find a great list of editors at Duolit.

*You Will Need a Formatter* You’d think this is easier but it’s surprisingly difficult to get all the ePublishing and Print-On-Demand formatting done. And unless you’re highly technical, it’s worth the relatively inexpensive cost to outsource this to professionals who are incredibly responsive and quick on the turnaround. I work with Paul Salvette at BB eBooks. He’s amazing. Completely worth all the time I saved not worrying about this.

*You will Need a SOLID Book Cover* Fork out the cash to get a quality book cover design. You can crowdsource it or hire a designer based off of another cover you really like, but either way, you should absolutely spend the time and money to get this right because let’s not kid ourselves--Everyone judges a book by its cover.

If you’re an amateur writer or just thinking about the process, I’ve also published the LAWLESS Rules of Writing Like a Boss (http://alexilawless.com/lawless-rules...) based on the learnings from my own experience with this process. Hope this helps encourage you to take the leap and do it!
Alexi Lawless Travel, drink, relax, walk away, listen to music...basically take my mind away from what I need to do.

For example, I really struggled with the third major character in Complicated Creatures Part One, because I couldn’t visualize him clearly in my head. When I wrote his character sheet, I had a lot of conflicting personality traits and his motives were unclear even to me. So what did I do? I stopped writing. When in doubt, consume a libation and take a break. That’s a trusted go-to.

I didn’t want to read someone else’s work while I was having trouble writing my own, so I ended up surfing around for the “best-written TV shows” according to the Writer’s Guild of America, and stumbled upon Friday Night Lights. I hadn’t loved the movie when it came out years ago, so I’d discounted the series. I decided to give it a try. After all, I already had a cold beer in my hand and football season hadn’t started yet. I was in Asia and feeling a little homesick for some good old-fashioned Americana, and I ask you, “What’s more American than high school football”? I watched episode one of the first season, saw Timothy Riggins’ character calling out, “Texas forever”, and BAM! There’s the third character I couldn’t figure out an hour earlier.
