My last book "Local Money - What Difference Does It Make?" (2013) was written at the request of Triarchy Press, which published my co-authored 2012 book "People Money - the Promise of Regional Currencies".
They said "Young people tell us they don't want to read a long book, can you write something shorter as a quick introduction to the topic of local currencies?"
This short 'pamphlet' actually cost me more blood, sweat and tears than the previous longer book. First I had to process my anger at the existing financial 'system' and the first draft was not fit for publication! After six drafts and lots of support from my lovely editor Alison at Triarchy, we got it right. Still not selling well and here is what Ben Brangwyn of the Transition Network kindly said about it:
"Must-read pamphlet. I found it clear, concise, assertive, inspiring and timely. Miraculously, John Rogers has distilled everything you need to know on this subject into this very easily digested little tome. Seriously impressive. I recommend it to Transition Initiatives."

By having something inspiring to write about AND by getting on the computer and writing!

A short book/pamphlet, same length as my previous "Local Money" book, title "The Map".
The Map describes how we can unlock the potential of every individual and community by making better maps of where local underused resources and unmet needs are.

In my case, not attempting to earn a living from it! I write what I want, when I want.

Easy. I don't see myself as a 'writer' at the identity level so I don't get an existential crisis if I can't write. I simply write when I have something to say.
