I got to read the book before anyone else. I huge surprise for me was about halfway through the book my "outlined" approach just fell by the wayside. I told my wife at about that point that I couldn't wait to write the next chapter "to see what happens next". I got absorbed into reading the story just like I was reading someone else's work.

I just started writing book 2 of 3 in the Collective series as the Columbia, along with a Collective contingent, venture on to Tau Ceti.

My wife got tired of my tearing apart TV shows, from a technical perspective, basically challenging me to write it myself if I thought I could do better. Well there is a small factor in that but I sought out the challenge of seeing my idea bloom into a full story.

As an avid Sci-Fi reader myself I've had ideas rattling around for a long time. First Interstellar flight and first contact ideas especially. So in essence the idea for this book has been evolving for some time just begging to be put to (electronic) paper.
