Nobody can read something you haven't published but vice versa has it's own risks!

I know it could never be my full time job but I find it very motivating, especially when you see the final product! It is also a very good discipline to make you read what others have written and understand what they are trying to say and how they express their ideas, build characters etc.

The book is set in Aldeburgh in Suffolk and Coggeshall in Essex, the area I lived in my twenties and thirties. Both places have evocative landscapes and lots of local stories and history that I have woven in to the narrative.

I find most of my ideas arrive at unexpected moments or first thing in the morning. So I note them down. I write when travelling or in quiet moments at home!
