My ancestor's mother-in-law, Mary Emily Cage, was hanged for murder in 1851. Mary confessed to many sins, but not to poisoning her husband. I started wondering whether she was guilty after all - so I wrote a book about it! Vote for Murder is based on Mary's story.

Hi Christopher. Many thanks for your question and your rating. Yes, there will be a follow up and ultimately a series. I hope to publish the next Lawrence Harpham mystery next year.

As the last sod of earth hit the coffin top, he heard the faintest whimper from below. He walked away, smiling.

Vote for Murder was inspired by events within my own family tree, featuring a Victorian poisoner and an Edwardian suffragette. It is a work of faction and I have tried my best to stay faithful to the original newspaper reports of the 1851 poisoning. The 1911 suffragette census evasion really happened but, although my family tree contains several suffragists and suffragettes, most of the Edwardian characters are fictional. Vote for Murder is a book for readers with an interest in genealogy and murder mysteries.
