Hello Mandy! I love the No 2 Feline Detective Agency series, it's my go-to happy place. Would you consider doing a prequel type book with Hettie and Tilly's back story?
Mandy Morton Hi Helen, I’m so pleased you love the books, they are a joy to write. As for Hettie and Tilly’s back story I’ve included a little of that in the book I have just finished which will be published next Christmas 23. There is also a new book coming in May 23 The Windmill Murders which I hope you will enjoy.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Mandy Morton I haven't experienced it yet, and I only write when I want to, my books are full of quite dark humour and so I have to be in the right frame of mind to sit down with it but I love my characters and they are always up to something which engages me.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Mandy Morton Being able to tell a good story that other people can enjoy.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Mandy Morton Just get on with it, do it to amuse yourself to start with, bury yourself in the world you are creating. If you don't find it interesting the chances are no one else will either.

What are you currently working on?
Mandy Morton I've just finished the second book in the series titled ' Cat Among The Pumpkins' which is set around Halloween. I'm now starting to think about book three which I will start to write as soon as the weather turns.

How do you get inspired to write?
Mandy Morton At the moment it's the seasons. The first book was written during the Autumn of 2013 as a treat to chase away the winter blues. I hate the winter and writing this first book gave me a lovely reason to hibernate with my characters.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Mandy Morton From adopting elderly cats, I decided to create a world without humans where cats of every sort could live out their lives abiding by their own rules and instincts. It was also a wonderful way of bringing back to life the cats that I have loved and lost. The lead characters Hettie and Tilly who run The No2 Feline Detective Agency were both cats I shared my life with and I also have included one or two of my friends cats that are no longer with us.
