I am often inspired by news stories or things I observe while I am out and about: walking, riding the bus, grocery shopping. That's why I feel it is so important to pay attention to your surroundings and to listen rather than being glued to a smartphone. I have been known to eavesdrop. It can't be helped sometimes and definitely can provide inspiration!

I try to write a few hundred words every day, even they aren't all "keepers." If I am having trouble with a scene, I try to plough through so I can move on to the next one. That's why revision is so important!

I'm working on another YA novel, this time about young women on an inner-city track team. They are funny, rowdy, loyal, trash-talking "fast girls," and I am having a blast writing about them as well as exploring some of the darker problems faced by elite teen athletes. I am calling it Bridesmaids meets Friday Night Lights. For now.
