When I pick up some of my work I haven't read in a while and impress myself, thinking 'Wow, I wrote this?' Makes me feel good.

Yoda said it best. "Do or not Do...there is no try" If you aspire to write, then write. It is only by writing that you will ever create any stories at all.

I skip ahead to a scene I know I'm going to write further down the time-line. That helps solidify what HAS to happen, which allows me to start back where I stuck. Once I start writing, the block disappears.

I'm in the first phases of editing my NaNoWriMo project (KJ3) and beginning the first draft of a new fantasy.

The opening scene in the 2nd chapter was inspired by a dream I had. I've been developing the small town I created, and part of the story is designed to help set up background and players a little better. Kitty is a recluse who is new in town, so her story was only able to do that in a limited way. In Everybody Talks, I wanted readers to get to know the town, people, and explore some ideas about what is good, also being bad, etc. Daphne was the perfect character to bounce against The Beast!
