In The Pottery Sale, I visited my sister's pottery shop and based their shop layout on her shop in Salem, Oregon. She helped me a great deal on the manipulation of the clay and to the firing of the ceramic. When I go to visit her again, I'll leave a few books in their pottery sales room.
Another aspect to The Pottery Sale is the fact that I live near Firth, Idaho which is the location of the story.
In the beginning when my character sits down for breakfast, I too had a Corelle plate explode in front of me.
Read how ancient mytholigical characters intertwine with the local Indian spirits to rid their kingdom of the evil witch and the killer in the real world.

I don't think I have ever had it. But when there is a slow down or I'm trying to think of a scene change. I will stop and read someone else's work or watch TV. You can free up your mind and whatever it was will come to you. When I did Nanowrimo, this gave me a structured way to write. I first knew exactly what was going to be told and wrote it out daily.

Write your story first. You can always go back and make changes. Don't throw any of your writings away. You may want them years later.
