Jeremy Gray It sounds cliché, but you'll never write that book unless you sit down in front of the computer and write it.

Beyond that, you need to have something interesting to say. That's what separates you from the crowd. What is it about you and your viewpoint that other people can't convey? What is it about your storytelling that nobody else can do? What life experiences have you had that are unique to you and no one else?

Don't spend too much time trying to be a "good" writer. There are no hard and fast rules. If you're honest with yourself and it comes through in your writing, people will gravitate toward your work. The right ones, at least.
Jeremy Gray I used to get writer's block. But I think it was more a lack of discipline than an actual 'thing'. I just wasn't ready to fully commit to my book. Once I became more disciplined, writer's block disappeared. The reason? Because any time I was stuck in a certain scene, I would switch gears to another scene that I may have been having trouble with previously. Many times I'd find it easier to get that scene working with a fresh eye.
The secret is to always remain productive. If you aren't feeling a scene, switch over to another one where the foundation is fairly solid and spend some time polishing it. Or pull out a character sheet and fill in some back story. As your book comes along, you'll always have areas that you want to come back to and improve. The trick is to never let yourself get bored. You'll be amazed how quickly a new idea will present itself and the words will flow again.
