Ray Jay Perreault Yes, they are all Science Fiction. I like Sci-Fi because it has no bounds. The story can use all of the elements of a love story, human drama, or mystery, but in another world. It's fun to apply the human foibles within an alien experience.
I like all of my stories. I don't write to fill a market niche or repeat a successful formula. Each of my stories is unique, and even within my series, I have different lead characters. They're all part of the same story, but their story emerges through their contribution to the story.
I have to enjoy the story in my mind before I put it down. Some of my stories are more about technology, and others are about survival and changes in the society. There is something about each one that I'm proud of. There is one thread through all of them, and that is honor, loyalty, love, sacrifice and commitment.
Ray Jay Perreault Interesting question, and I'm not sure how to answer it. There are so many mysteries in life, that would make a great SciFi plot. I think the biggest is, "is there life out there?" I think that's the most profound mystery we face. I'm writing a novel based on Fermi's Paradox; which I'm calling "Fermi's Pair of Socks," which will be a youth oriented book. I'm about half way through it and so far it's been a challenge. The characters are going a series of 'lives' where they experience possible answers to Fermi's Paradox. I hope to have it out later this year. Thanks for asking. At the current time I have four short stories two novellas and four novels listed on Amazon, Google and Smashwords.

Late last year I decided to take the plunge into audio books and I was lucky to connect with a couple of great narrators. The first audio book I released was Gemini which is available now. Then for a couple of reasons I focused on converting my short stories and now that they are out the remaining novels will start. In fact, the first of the Novels "Virus-72 Hours to Live" will be released on Audible around Mar 22. The second book, "Virus-Earth's Last Battle" is in production now and will be released in July, followed by "Earth II- You Have no Honor" which should be out in Sept.

FYI, I'm still writing new works and I have a follow-on to the "Progeny"/"Circle is Closed" stories which will be called "Progeny's Children". I have the first draft complete and it should be out for Beta review next month. If all goes well it will be released as an eBook before summer and Audio later in the summer.

I have two other books planned this year. One will be the next step in the "Virus"&"SIMPOC" series as the next step after "Earth II". It should be out later this year. Then, if I have the time, I plan to write the second in the Gemini series by the end of the year.

Not to say that I won't be writing short stories. I love them, I think they are the basis of the genre. When I write and need a break, I jump on a short story. I have a bunch of topics to cover and I may get a couple more of them out this year along with the other projects.

Thanks for asking, hope I answered your question.

Ray Jay Perreault Watching TV. It was a typical plot and I thought about the reverse of it; which seems to me to be a great short story.
Ray Jay Perreault I just keep coming up with plots. Last night watching TV I came up with another great story. I like to focus on the 'other guy' in Sci-Fi. We have read about 'evil computers, evil corporations, evil warlords,' but no one writes about them. How did they get that way, what is their back story.
Ray Jay Perreault I have two series in work. One called SIMPOC is about how a computer turns into the 'Evil Computer' depicted in so many Sci-Fi novels. This is the first book of at least a 3 part series which is available on Amazon, with the next one due on by the end of July.

My other series is a 5 part book and it is about a naive alien race that finds that they share an orbit around their sun with a insect species that isn't too friendly. The first of those books should start releasing in August.
Ray Jay Perreault Write, write, write and when you get tired; write.
Ray Jay Perreault I get to go places that I create and I don't have to buy a ticket.
Ray Jay Perreault Never been a problem for me. I write fast and I've got a long list of Sci-Fi topics to get into. When I get going, I get excited because I want to get to the end so I can see how my book ends. I change things as I go along and I'm not sure what the ending will be until I get there.
