I've heard writers say that they enjoy the feeling of becoming Lost in the characters and the worlds they create. To put a finer point on that, it's as if I Find these characters and settings and what makes them unique. Then what makes them unique can also relate to what makes them universal - the everyman or everywoman aspect of us all. When I strike a balance between the unique and the universal, that's when I feel exhilarated about being a writer.
