Anne Reavill As you say, writing can be one good way to heal. If ever I feel a bit down I have to remind myself how lucky I am to still be here.
I am not doing a lot of writing at the moment as I am spending more time on my other passion which is painting. However I have two or three books on the go and tend to switch between them as the mood takes me. One is almost complete. This is a sort of follow on from my other book on nursing and midwifery, but in a fictional setting this time It includes some of the many incidents and that I did not have space to cover there. I hope to complete it by the end of this year.
Anne Reavill Hello Jan. I am lucky to have recovered so well, although it certainly took time. I still have partially numb and tingling feeling in my feet, but am so used to it I hardly notice it any more. I often used to feel dizzy if I turned to quickly, but seemed to recover from that after a couple of years.
Since then I have done a lot of travelling with my husband, who is fine. We have visited my sister in Australia and also other relatives in Canada. Last year we visited Peru, which was fantastic, and we both coped well with the high altitude there. So life is good.
I hope you have recovered, or are recovering, well from your aneurysm/SAH. It is always good to hear from other survivors.
Anne Reavill Yes to both your questions. I also loved Jennifer Worth's books, but did not read them until after I had finished writing my first book as, although they are very different, I did not want to be influenced by them.
Anne Reavill The idea for my most recent book came from more or less the same source as my previous one; my time in hospital following a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. I hope it will be of help to anyone else who has a similar experience. During my time in hospital I was fascinated by how much nursing has changed since the time I did my training in the 1960s and this gave me the idea for my first book where I recall my experience and contrast this with both the nursing and medical treatment today.
