The idea for the book came from a daydream I experienced while driving to work one morning. It occurred to me just how much we let cultural restraints and material expectations hold us blindly captive to a life that is very distant from what God truly desires for us. What would life be like to break free of those constraints and just do what the Bible tells us to do? That’s the basis for the book. The title, A “Seed for the Harvest,”speaks to the impact one life can have on so many others.

My inspiration to write comes from my faith in Jesus Christ. Writing is a creative way for me to share what I have learned as a Christian and hopefully enrich the faith of my readers.

I'm currently working on the sequel to "A Seed for the Harvest." The working title is "The Workers Are Few." I hope to have it ready for publication in late 2015.

Don't be intimidated at the prospect of writing a book. Just start with an idea and let it grow. Your initial goal shouldn't be to "get published." Your goal should be to create an engaging story that you'll want to read, yourself. You have to believe in your own work before you can expect others to take interest. Once youv'e done that, you can tackle the challenge of seeing it published.

My greatest enjoyment in writing Christian fiction is to talk with my readers and hear how they were able to connect with the characters and how the story impacted their faith.

I set a rule for myself when writing that anytime the creative process begins to feel like work, I stop. My best story ideas often come to me when I am doing something totally removed from writing (e.g., walking the dog, sleeping, driving, etc.). In writing "A Seed for the Harvest," I would go 2-3 weeks without writing, then be woken up in the middle of the night realizing I had just dreamed my next chapter. I would jump out of bed and immerse myself back into the writing process. In short, I let the book "happen" to me rather than force a contrived story on my readers.
