Andrew Forkner I have long had a fascination with Norse mythology, and when one day I read a version of the tale about the death of Odin's youngest son Baldur, I realised that it represented a foundation that I could build upon.
With the recent advent of the Marvel films Norse gods have gained more public exposure, but I made a conscious decision early on that I did not want to follow the same (super hero) path. I would of course include some of the important characters, but I wanted them to be more recognisable (and hopefully believable) to my readers.
Andrew Forkner I am now working on Book 2 in my 'Tomes of Gard' series (following on from 'A Rainbow Rises').
Andrew Forkner Having been an avid reader of fantasy for many years, although I have read many books that I have thoroughly enjoyed, there have (inevitably) always been some descriptions, or aspects of the story which didn't match the mental imagery that I created while reading.
Now as I create my own adventures, I have complete control over how my characters look, behave and interact with one another. The realms through which they pass can be described exactly as I see them in my mind.
I get excited every time I sit down to write.
Andrew Forkner I have to be perfectly honest here and say that thankfully I have yet to experience this situation. My problem currently is that I find myself with more ideas than I can include in my writing and so choosing which to include is my biggest problem.
