Rosie Somers Until I was thirteen, I was sure I wanted to be a doctor. Then my middle school Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Dianne Johnson, found some of my poetry. I guess she saw something in me that I didn't even realize was there. She got me involved in writing projects, had my poetry printed and bound, and even took me and another classmate to a writing conference at a nearby college. Before her, no teacher had ever taken that much interest in me (unless it was to give me detention), and that positive energy she invested in me has stuck with me and inspired me for over two decades. For all you teachers out there wondering if what you do really makes a difference in a child's life... it really does!
Rosie Somers Music. I can pretty much always find inspiration in music. If I'm trying for a particular tone or ambiance in a scene, I will create and/or curate a playlist specifically for it. My current playlists are pretty much all named for titles of my current WIPs, some with a mood descriptor included.
