Just go for it! I mean that in the most sincere way possible too, that's all there is to it. You just have to sit down, put your ideas on paper, and see where it takes you. I used to be terrified of my own writing, of letting other people see, but at some point you have to decide for yourself and the only way to get over the hump is to push yourself to do it.

I was sitting down to prepare for NaNoWriMo 2017 and it just sort of came to me. I fleshed out the setting first, and then the characters and plot came after. I was feeling the heavy weight of a big emotional loss (a very young member of my family died unexpectedly in an accident) and that also motivated me to write A Crooked Mile.
