Douglas Stewart Dead Fix is imminent for publication around October 2017. It was inspired by my long interest in, and hatred of, sporting events being fixed to benefit players or - increasingly by organized criminals to make their billions every year.
Det. Insp. Todd "Ratso" Holtom has to hunt down the mega-rich criminals who are manipulating results. Match-fixing is the scourge of many sports including baseball, cricket, basketball, soccer and tennis among others.
Douglas Stewart Yes - my first 3 books involved an inquisitive Bristol (UK) lawyer called Alastair Duncan. They were published by Robert Hale Ltd of London and had to be written to a shorter length than I prefer but nevertheless have sold well for some 30 years and are being published as eBooks by Endeavour Press of London in 2017
Douglas Stewart I like to have a clear desk and no major distractions like tax returns to irritate me! After that, the words flows. The hard work is the editing - six, eight, ten times I go over the first draft..
Douglas Stewart The third mystery thriller in the Det. Insp. Todd "Ratso" Holtom series and assisting TV producers interested in developing a TV series based on Ratso.
Douglas Stewart You can learn so much these days on-line. This saves time. So many mistakes that I and other writers have made can now be avoided by careful research. If self-published, the rewards are only earned from hard graft! If you have a publisher, don't expect them to do much to make you a best-seller. It can and may happen but for most mere mortals, the heavy lifting in marketing is mainly down to you.
Douglas Stewart No one thing - meeting readers, meeting other authors and creating believable plots. I love doing readings or meeting up at events where the public are attendees.
Douglas Stewart Never suffered from block - only lack of hours in the day!
