Ha... Insomnia from having to work night shifts. That and being dissatisfied with a lot of books I was reading at the time. I found myself getting frustrated with plots and characters. I'd be like, "no don't do that! Come on that's not the way it should go." Also I stopped watching television because of similar reasons. I was no longer satisfied with watching or reading passively.

Just start writing. Don't worry about grammar or spelling. Deal with that after the book is done. If you think that no one will like your book, don't let that stop you. That shouldn't be your motivation. Bringing your story to life and putting it out there, is the best feeling. Remember, only you can write your stories, your way.

The best thing about writing for me is the act itself. It's such a great outlet for creativity. That and literally seeing my characters come to life. They really do take over sometimes and even I can't seem to stop them from getting their way. Also it amazes me, how many different characters I've come up with. I mean where in the world did they come from?
The second greatest thing about writing is connecting with readers. I mean let's face it, if a reader likes your book, then they must really get you. When you get a genuine review from someone who really enjoyed your stories, it's such a great feeling.

Writer's block is not my issue, procrastination is. I get distracted quite easily too. Even tougher is having to balance my time between social networking and promotion, and writing.
