A.B. Robertson "Who Needs Real Life?" is actually based on real life events.
Real life catfish stories.
A.B. Robertson It starts with a concept. Once you get the stage set, you conjure up the protagonists. Then you start hearing their voices. After that, all you have to do is to let them guide you.
A.B. Robertson I have already written parts of the second book of my quadrilogy, but I will have to wait for some positive feedback before I'll actually finish it. Unfortunately, marketing is just as much a part of writing a book, as the fun part.
I also have a dystopic love-story taking shape in my mind. Even though I shouldn't be writing another book at the moment, I can't help thinking of the plot, the characters, the dialogues... Writing is very addictive. It's like chocolate, it makes you happy, whether you like it or not.
A.B. Robertson I'm a beginner myself, so I can't dole out wisdom from the heights of the literary Olympus to other aspiring writers.
All I can say is, go for it. Enjoy it.
A.B. Robertson Expressing yourself is a wonderful experience. Once you start, it's really hard to stop. I've written two books so far. I know that I should focus on getting them to readers, but I can't help but thinking of my next project.
The creative process is like an addiction. You have an idea forming in your mind and all you want to do is to explore it. It's weird. You might have ideas about your characters, but once they are born, they might not behave as you planned.
The four years that I've spent writing my two books were the happiest I can remember. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the time I've spent revising my work.
A.B. Robertson I never had one. I was always very focused on the story. If anything, I had problems from "concept overdrive", meaning that I had to weed out the good ideas from the bad.
