Gary Ross-Jordan To be honest, I am a working Air Traffic Controller and a dad of three all under ten, so it's more of a case of grabbing what time I can. I do have favourite places to write and often will take myself out to a coffee shop, or if the weather is particularly good (I live in NW Scotland so this is rare!) I go to a local park and write there. Usually I am chewing over my writing all the time and have the ideas ready to go when I sit down. I wish I was writing enough to run out of ideas! There's no zone with me, I just keep writing. Its the editing and rewrite days that make or break the writing. Picking the wheat from the chaff is the real key. And that's not a zone, that's just experience and feel.
Gary Ross-Jordan "Darker Shade of Light" - I have always loved allegory and I thought what better way to highlight issues and pitfalls in a life of trying to follow Jesus than by taking it all to a different world and place to show the starkness of the issues. Hopefully this will drive people to think about the issues rather than just throwing my opinions and probably inappropriate solutions at them!
Gary Ross-Jordan Well coming out real soon is a Darker Shade of Light which are Christian allegorical stories written in a slightly darker style somewhat more akin to HP Lovecraft but with a very different view of the world. At least I hope its a different view! This should be out by the end of the month.

I have also written a children's story set on the Isle of Lewis about a girl who discovers she has certain powers. She battles a greedy force which comes to the island and learns some surprising facts about her family along the way. Its entitled I am Thunderstorm and although fully written it is awaiting some artwork.

However the items I am currently writing are some short story submissions to various websites and a full novel entitled "The Innsmouth Migration". It is about two paranormal investigators who have a true love/hate relationship due to previous encounters. They take a wild goose chase across the globe tracking down a weird but powerful piece of music which darker powers are keen to exploit. Remember if it looks dangerous or dark, or dank and forboding, or fiercesome and deadly - Don't go there!
Gary Ross-Jordan You can go to any place, any time, any fantasy in your head, any wild thought that raced across your brain and anything else, and then explore it without paying a dime! It is all there for you. And if someone else gets your journey, that's the icing on the cake.
Gary Ross-Jordan Everything around me to be honest. I love people's reactions, good and bad, and the mental questioning we all go through with ourselves. Writing to me is a way of either telling something you know or something that should be. It is just a more interesting way of doing it.
Gary Ross-Jordan There is really only one solution and that is to sit down and write. You can read and research to help, or even pick a topic to focus your writing. Something factual can sometimes help as it requires certain details to be noted which gives you a start on the words. But basically write it out, it is the only way for me.
