Inspiration has never been a problem for me. Life inspires me! It might be a short snippet of overheard conversation, a discussion with friends, a song on the radio, the view out my window, or even the taste of dinner. Ideas just come to me and float around my head until I write them down.

I'm working on a sequel to Family Heir that I hope to have out this summer. Also in the works is a quartet of books exploring what would happen if magic returned to our modern world. Lastly, I'm almost finished with a Beauty and the Beast tale examining what happens after the fairy tale ends.

Well, there's the obvious, just sit down and write. Don't worry about how good it is--there's time for that later. Just put the words together into sentences. Also, read! Both the genre you want to write and books on writing.

Family Heir came from several ideas. Most of my book ideas are like this bizarre stew of different things I'm thinking about that come together. In this case, I wanted to see a new creature in urban fantasy and settled on Big Foot (who is a huge part of the folk lore where I live). Then the character of Troy came to mind because I wanted to write about a man with a speech disorder. Lastly, I wanted to write a book my best friend would love--so I added all the elements I know she likes.

I get to share my stories with others. I've had these characters, worlds, and plots floating in my head my entire life. Now, I put them in a form that others can enjoy.

I clean! I don't know why...maybe because I hate doing housework... but the minute I start cleaning, I think of what should come next! If it's a really tough scene, I end up with an apartment that sparkles!!
