M.D. Luis Hello Desiree!

I am about halfway done in writing it. My original deadline was early fall but it might be closer to Christmas. It's difficult to write during summer for me, there's a lot going on. Thanks for asking!

Michelle
M.D. Luis I don't. Ha-ha. Ok, not well, that is. I get really frustrated when I can't write. I'm a busy person and I have things to do like everyone else, I suspect. I'll walk away, exercise, do something else for awhile and come back. Sometimes reading another book helps too. It gets your brain flowing in the right direction - the creative one.
M.D. Luis I love that I get to make stuff up all the time. Creating a character is the best part. I can make him/her as annoying or obnoxious as I want to. The tricky part is to not get carried away. You can take your scene or character in a direction that is too far and suddenly things get out of whack. You need an anchor point, you need to stay grounded to a point or your story won't flow. You don't want to confuse your reader by making things all cray-cray.
M.D. Luis I listen to music sometimes. I actually listen to the words. There's great stuff in lyrics, it's like poetry. It'll inspire you in ways you never thought of. I also like to people watch. People watching helps me develop characters or small scenes. I love to see what people do when they think no one is watching. You should try it. The airport, park or some other public venue works great. You can use these tidbits of people's characters and incorporate them into your own. Realistic characters should come from realistic people.
M.D. Luis I'm working on the third novel in The Aria Trilogy. It's called Ember and I'm hoping to have it finished by summer but it could be out in the fall. It's hard to set a deadline. Something called life gets in the damn way all the time.
M.D. Luis Keep writing. And don't polish too much. At least, not in the beginning. Just get the story out, there's plenty of time to clean it up later. If you try to make it pretty too soon, you'll give up because you'll never finish the story. Get the story out! Can't say it enough. And my advice to those who have actually finished their book - don't quit. It's easy to give up when you're not getting published but no one says you have to do it the old-fashioned way. Do it yourself. It's hard, ain't gonna lie but it's gratifying in the best way possible.
