A walk is really the best way to get the "flow" going. I don't agree with the "write x words every day" tenet. Inspiration comes in fits and starts, and you need to seize the moment when it arrives.
If you can't write when that moment arrives, at least make notes. Or you'll forget most of your inspiration.
