What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Brenda Beem Join a professional writing organization and then find a writing group or partner who writes for the same audience you are writing for. The feedback is vital for growth. The professional organization will also provide you with writing tips and connections.

What are you currently working on?
Brenda Beem Book two in the series is at the publisher's right now. I have started book three, Anchored, that I hope to have finished by Spring of 2016.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Brenda Beem I love just letting my stories develop. I usually know where I'll end up, but the journey is usually just as much a surprise to me as it is to the reader.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Brenda Beem I've been lucky. I've never really had writer's block. Or maybe I just don't sit down to write until I have something I want to write about.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Brenda Beem I live in Seattle and own a sailboat. Writing a book about teens on a sailboat surviving a world disaster came to me. But I also love disaster and dystopian stories.
