When I was younger I dated an astrologer. I was too young to appreciate her comments but I never forgot how accurate they were. When I decided to put words on paper I had another astrologer read my horoscope. Again, right on the money. I did some research and thought the cosmic theory would be a great foundation for a mystery novel.

write, then put it aside for a month or two. You will be amazed how inept you were originally. And how much better your verbiage is now- until you wait another month and reread it again. After a while, you will get better, and even if you feel you haven't, you'll still have the satisfaction of putting your thoughts on paper. They're yours, and you've accomplished something so many others fear to try. Remember, embarrassment is not an option.
