The problem is not ideas--the problem is too many ideas. I 'cheat' on the book I'm writing now with about five other book ideas calling to me. Usually people doing something perverse and wrong...but interesting is what gets my imagination percolating. The idea for Sexsomnia just came from that one word. I think that was the first time ever that the title and subject matter came to me before the characters and their initial situation. Usually it's the characters or a twisty moment that comes first. Then the sex. Then the rest....

My writer *friends*! And getting to share a love of books with them every single day. I really enjoy going to the cafe or settling into my desk with a cup of tea M-F morning to get down to it. I find a new amazing book to read and want to read it again--and I do!--because this is my *job*. Sigh. It's the best feeling ever.

To paraphrase Mary Oliver: if you show up, your subconscious shows up too. I never have writer's block when everyday I sit down, open up the computer, open up the file to the book I'm writing, and just start working.
